FAQs
Do I really need a website?
Not necessarily. If you are content with your existing client base and have enough business through word of mouth or other means, then having a website may not be essential for you. However, you can still gain from a website to showcase your company and keep your customers updated.
I already have a Facebook business page, why should I have a website?
Simply put, you are more in control over your web presence if you have a website. It’s not unheard of for companies to go out of business because Facebook decides to shut down their page. Also, it’s a lot easier to organise your pages on a website and provides a more user-friendly point of contact. Nevertheless, Facebook can be useful to drive traffic to your website.
Can I just have a one page website? Is a one page website enough?
Yes, for most small businesses a single page site can be adequate. However, if you want your site to be Google friendly and have a more rounded storefront where you can have a gallery display and add regular news articles, a full website is a better choice.
I saw that I could build my own website on Wix, why should I choose you?
Once I have a website, will it show up on the first page of Google?
I wish it were that easy! There’s a whole industry (search engine optimisation – SEO) devoted to the art of getting sites to be visible in searches. Unless the search terms you are trying to rank for have low competition, it will take some time to show up in the search engines, especially if the website is new. It’s always best to discuss your goals with your web designer as they will have skills in this area.
How much does it cost to have a website created?
It really depends what you’re looking for and the skill set of your web designer. I charge £199 for simple one-page sites, but the price will reflect the complexity of design and services. See my Services page for more details. Alternatively, contact me and see what I can do for you.
Are there any on-going costs?
Yes. There will be at least the annual cost of renewing your domain name (internet or web address) which costs around £10 and a monthly hosting fee which can be anything from £5 to £30 depending on the complexity of the hosting and whether it’s paid monthly or annually. You also need to think about site maintenance, troubleshooting and development of the website.
I already have a logo and marketing material, can you incorporate those in the website design?
Yes of course. The more creative elements you can bring with you the better.
I don’t have a logo, can you design one for me?
Unfortunately I’m not a graphic designer and don’t provide logo design services. I can, however, create a simple word logo if required or recommend you other talented designers’ services.
